Joey Lum, known by current and former student-athletes in the program as "Uncle," joined the Sacramento State women's soccer program as the Director of Women's Soccer Operations prior to the 2016 season.

Lum assists the coaching staff with the day-to-day administration of the program, which includes coordinating all team operations at home games, assisting with soccer camps and tournaments, fundraising, marketing, and being the liaison with community youth soccer clubs. In addition, Lum serves as the team liaison for the team parents, alumni, and parents of alumni. Lum has also worked at Sacramento State for 17 years as Facilities Management Coordinator.

Lum has always been involved with sports, which includes coaching basketball and softball teams ranging from middle school to high school. He also co-founded and was the head coach of the ASA Folsom Flash Softball Organization. Lum later became involved with soccer when his two daughters chose soccer as their sport. He coached youth teams for the Fair Oaks Soccer Club and was the Club Team Manager at Casa Boca Jr's Soccer Club.

A native of Kailua, Hawaii, Lum attended the University of Hawaii-Manoa. He and his wife, Lori, have two daughters, Brittani and Jennifer.

Brittani is a former soccer player at the University of Hawaii, earning all-WAC defender and all-WAC academic team honors during her collegiate career. Jennifer completed her senior season as a Hornet midfielder in 2016, earning several awards throughout her collegiate soccer career. She was a three-time all-Big Sky selection, named to the first team as a senior. She was also named to the Big Sky all-tournament team, and was a four-time Big Sky all-academic selection.

In addition to supporting women's soccer for many years, Lum is also the man responsible for the iconic "S" that overlooks the Sacramento State soccer fields, intramural fields, and tennis courts. Read more about his contrbiution to the "S" here.
